Roulette is easy to follow, but its bet names and wheel types can confuse at first. This guide explains the wheel, the main bet types and how a spin is settled, without suggesting a bet.
Each round opens with a betting window, followed by the spin and the drop of the ball. The pocket where the ball comes to rest decides every bet on the table at once. Once the betting window closes, no further stakes can be placed on that spin, so check your positions before the wheel turns.
Most roulette tables use either a European wheel with a single zero or an American wheel with a single and a double zero. The pocket count changes the chances of each bet.

Inside bets cover individual numbers or small groups, while outside bets cover larger groups such as red or black, odd or even, and dozens. Each bet type pays according to its own rule.
Straight, split, street and corner bets cover one to four numbers, and they pay more as the cover narrows.
Red or black, odd or even, high or low, and dozens or columns cover larger groups and pay less.
Payouts are fixed by the bet type. The payout table in the game shows the return for each bet.
